MOW-DOWN
The GF1 Center has partnered with the City of Houston Department of Neighborhoods and Quality of Life’s MOW-DOWN program. The program addressees the problem of over-grown lots by encouraging non-profit groups to provide lawn maintenance to City-approved abandoned lots in the communities in which they are located.
GF1 actively participates in the MOW-DOWN program and is committed to the maintenance of over 100 abandoned lots.
Rigging Certification Workshop
Through a certified instructor, the GF1 Center host a Certified Crane Operator (CCO) rigger certification program that guides trainees through the training and testing required to become a certified rigger. The CCO certification is nationally recognized and internationally accredited. Individuals who successfully complete the workshop will become certified riggers and will be eligible for employment in various industries which include: construction, steel erection, ironworkers, operating engineers, utilities, petrochemicals, specialty rigging companies, rigging hardware, and sling manufacturers. After completion of the certification process, riggers will be able to earn wages starting at $28-$33 an hour.
